How to Understand What to Work as: Career Self-Analysis
Choosing a profession is one of the key decisions that affects quality of life. However, intuitive approaches to career self-determination often lead to disappointment: a job that seemed attractive doesn’t bring satisfaction, and switching fields is delayed by the fear of making a mistake. The course offers a structured method for analyzing your preferences, energy, and competencies, enabling well-considered career decisions without abrupt moves.
The course program includes several thematic blocks. The first focuses on diagnosing your energy and fatigue patterns: you will learn to track which tasks energize you and which drain you, and identify hidden sources of motivation. The second block is about identifying strengths based on analysis of past experience and feedback. You will master the technique “Career Hypotheses”: formulating assumptions about suitable professions based on the collected data. The third block is testing hypotheses in practice: you will learn how to conduct informational interviews, participate in pilot projects, and use volunteering to test new roles without changing your current job. Separate attention is given to methods for dealing with limiting beliefs and fear of change.
The course methodology is based on the principles of reflective practice and an evidence-based approach to career counseling. You will keep an observation journal, complete exercises analyzing specific situations, and receive feedback from the instructor. The course is designed so you can apply the tools immediately to your real situation, gradually moving from reflection to action. Special attention is paid to common mistakes: confusing “want” with “need,” ignoring the market context, and having overly high expectations from rapid change.
The course is intended for specialists with 2+ years of work experience who feel dissatisfied with their current career but don’t know where to start looking for alternatives; for university graduates choosing their first job or switching specialties; for people returning to the labor market after a break (maternity leave, studying, illness); and for professionals who want to move into an adjacent field but are unsure of their strengths.
By the end of the course, you will have a career self-analysis framework, including methods for identifying energy patterns and strengths. You will learn to formulate specific career hypotheses and distinguish them from general preferences. You will be able to interpret labor market signals and align them with your personal criteria. You will develop a decision-making system that reduces uncertainty and helps you act consistently.
