ADHD Planning: Time Blocks and Energy Management

Effective time management often falters when energy levels fluctuate unpredictably. For individuals navigating ADHD, traditional planning methods can create more friction than they resolve. This course addresses that gap by introducing a structured yet flexible system built around short time blocks, focus/chaos zones, and energy-aware scheduling. You will learn to work with your natural rhythms rather than against them, reducing the cognitive load of task initiation and follow-through.

The programme centers on three core components: calendar anchors, master switching routines, and brief review sessions. Calendar anchors are fixed time points that structure your day without rigid scheduling, providing stability while allowing for adaptation. Master switching routines are repeatable sequences that help you transition between tasks or states—such as moving from a low-energy period to a deep-focus block—without losing momentum. Review sessions are short, scheduled check-ins (e.g., 5–10 minutes) to assess progress and adjust the plan for the remainder of the day or week. You will also explore the concept of “chaos zones”—periods when focus is unlikely—and learn strategies to protect high-energy windows while minimizing disruption during low-energy times. The course covers practical techniques for setting up these elements in a digital or paper calendar, prioritizing tasks based on energy demands, and building a personal energy profile over time.

The methodology emphasizes immediate application through clear execution steps. Each technique is broken down into actionable components, and common pitfalls—such as overcommitting to blocks, ignoring transition buffers, or failing to account for recovery time—are explicitly addressed. You will practice designing a daily plan that accommodates shifting energy levels and learn to distinguish between productive adaptation and avoidance. The course also covers how to handle interruptions and reset without derailing the entire schedule.

This course is designed for professionals and students managing ADHD who find conventional time-management advice ineffective; for parents and caregivers supporting a child or partner with ADHD who want to implement structured routines at home; for coaches and therapists seeking practical tools to recommend to clients; and for anyone who experiences chronic inconsistency in task execution and seeks a repeatable, low-friction planning framework.

By the end of the course, you will have a personalized planning system based on time blocks and energy mapping. You will understand how to set calendar anchors that anchor your day without constraining it, execute master switching routines to reduce transition friction, and conduct brief review sessions to maintain momentum. You will be able to interpret your own energy patterns and adjust your schedule accordingly, using a vocabulary that distinguishes between focus zones, neutral periods, and chaos zones. The course provides a framework you can immediately apply to your existing calendar and task management tools.
